Catherine A. Genereux passed away peacefully at home on Monday October 18, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was one month short of her 107th birthday.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Catherine was the oldest of five sisters. She graduated from Girls Commercial High School and went on to work in several Manhattan firms. In 1945, she married her husband Paul Genereux, a native of Woonsocket, Rhode Island. The couple moved to Staten Island in 1950. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Teresa R.C. Church. After working for more than 20 years as the head of the statistical typing department at Amstar, she retired in 1983.
She was an avid Brooklyn Dodgers and then a loyal Mets fan. She enjoyed reading, ceramics and gardening. But most of all she cherished time spent with her family. She was predeceased in 2008 by her husband, Paul. The two were married for 62 years. She is survived by her children, Diane Cummo (Richard), Paul Jr. (Rosalie), Kevin (Frances) and Nancy Doherty (Jim), eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave., Staten Island on Thursday, October 21st from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, October 22nd, at St. Teresa R.C. Church, 1634 Victory Blvd., Staten Island at 10:45 a.m. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Teresa Church.
