Carole Cohen of Manor Heights, Staten Island, N.Y., died on Feb. 29, 2016.
Funeral service is from Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave., Castleton Corners, S.I., on Friday at 10 a.m. Interment is in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Carole was born on June 28, 1945, in Manhattan, N.Y., and raised in Staten Island. She attended Saint Margaret Mary's, New Dorp High School, and graduated from the Wilford Beauty Academy.
Carole retired as a NYS DMV representative, where she worked for 18 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nunzio Benevento. Carole was the definition of a real lady; always looking proper wherever she went, extremely proper with people and always had her husband's attention. She was the love of his life.
Carole survived by her husband of 10 years, Sidney B. Cohen, who adored his wife and worked very hard fighting her disease. They enjoyed dancing on weekends at the Hilton Gardens with friends, working out at LA Fitness, dinner and visiting Sid's grandchildren in upstate New York. Carole enjoyed her time with Stephanie, Hanna, and Logan and was called "Grandma Carole."
Carol leaves behind her sister, Joyce Tornebene; two daughters, Marie Sobeck and Donna Licciardello. She was very proud of her grandson, Dominick, for his accomplishments in electrical construction and as a member of Local 3, and her granddaughters, who always lit her life up, Francesca and Valentina. Carole was extremely happy with her girls in their school work and sports activities. - See more at: http://obits.silive.com/obituaries/siadvance/obituary.aspx?n=carole-cohen&pid=177915451&fhid=9320#sthash.6GUp2A8J.dpuf
