Billie Jean Mattox Mauney 93, went to her heavenly home July 14, 2023. She was born June 28, 1930 in Chesterfield County, SC to James M. Mattox and Reath Deese Mattox. Growing up in Mount Holly, NC she lived most of her life in Stanley, NC.
Billie Jean was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Stanley serving on many committees. She especially enjoyed working with the Golden Years Club. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star. She also looked forward to Bridge Club.
Along with her husband Ralph, they opened Down Home Woodcraft in Stanley, NC. For many years, they made and sold country furniture and crafts.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband of 74 years, Ralph W. Mauney, her sister, Olean Ashley and brothers Robert F. Mattox and Nathan Mattox.
Billie Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son Michael R. Mauney, (Barbara), daughter, Catherine Mauney-Eden (Harvey) grand daughter, Michelle Mauney-Lowery (Jonathan) great granddaughter, Hannah Lowery.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, July 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the mausoleum at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, 1508 Charles Raper Jonas Highway, in Mount Holly, NC.
