Born July 14, 1929 to the late Thomas J. Gorey and Regina A. Gorey, he was oldest of four children. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Gorey, sister Regina Griffin and brother Edward Gorey. Tom grew up in Irvington, NY and graduated from Irvington High School in 1946. He served in the US Army and Merchant Marines and later graduated Magna Cum Laude from Pace University. He worked in Human Resources and Benefits for General Foods, later joined Inmont Corporation and retired as Vice President Employee Benefits and Human Resources from Capital Cities, ABC in New York City in 1991.
Tom leaves behind his former wife, Barbara C. Gorey of Stamford, son Thomas E. Gorey of Port Chester, NY, daughter Susan Gorey-Paddock of Sherman, CT, her daughters Nicole, Michaela and McKenzie, son William J. Gorey of Stamford, CT, and his sons Sean, Matt and Trey and son Michael Gorey and his wife Lorri Gorey of Ortley Beach, NJ and their daughter Allison Genegrasso and son Paul Genegrasso and Paul’s children Paul, Mya and Michael.
Tom also leaves behind his beloved wife Else Fragasso who resides in Stamford and stepson Michael Fragasso of Norwalk, CT, stepdaughter Lona Kirk of Avon, CT, her sons Randy, Eric and Jeff and stepdaughter Cindy Moore of Worcester, MA and her children Nicole and Taylor.
Tom was an avid sports fan and closely followed his beloved Mets and Jets. After retirement, he enjoyed a nice round of golf, his daily walks and cherished traveling with Else along the Northeast Coast to several of the Art shows that Else participated in during the summer seasons. He was a loving person and will be sorely missed.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 13 at St. Cecilia’s Church, located at 1184 Newfield Ave, Stamford CT 06905 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford, CT. Calling hours will be held Monday, March 12 from 4pm to 8pm at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home at 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT 06905.
