Rita Belle (Rachel) Wolfson, born in Port Chester, NY in 1941, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2022. She was predeceased by her parents Dr. Samuel Wolfson and Ruth Wald Wolfson. She is survived by her cousins Steven Wald and family, Barbara Aronica-Buck and Peter Buck and family, Robert Cohen and family, and her devoted friends and staff at ARI of CT.
Rita was the longest-served individual at ARI of CT, which was co-founded by her Aunt Thelma Martin. Rita was one of the first residents of an ARI group home and a valued participant in the day and recreational programs.
Rita was known for her love of bling, hundreds of purses, and never-too-many accessories. Her laugh was infectious and her empathy was deep. She was smart, determined, and a true friend.
Rita had a sisterly bond with Taria Hunter, for whom her family is most grateful. The staff of ARI, lead by Susanne Kuligowski, gave her a rich and beautiful life for over 50 years. Thank you all.
The funeral will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to ARI of Connecticut, Inc. at arict.org.
