He graduated from Jefferson High School in Rochester, NY and entered the United States Coast Guard in March of 1942 and was discharged in 1945. He served on the U.S.S. Leonard Wood APA 12. He participated in the invasion of North Africa and the invasion of Sicily. He went through the Panama Canal into the South Pacific and participated in many of the island invasions. He crossed the equator 23 times. He served and retired from the Coast Guard Reserve after 20 years as a Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Canzano was a life member of the Springdale V.F.W. Post 9617 for over 50 years, life member of the American Legion Cowen Post, and life member of the Coast Guard ComVet, and the Turn of River Fire Department for over 60 years where he served as Chief for nine years. He also served in many other offices in the department.
Mr. Canzano was a plumber and building inspector for the City of Stamford for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Dorothy Unnever Canzano of Stamford, his three daughters

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday April 1, 2011 at 11 A.M. Burial will be held privately.
