At 18 months, John was adopted by a loving family and grew up in West Hartford. He son of F. Walter Larson and Lucille Boomer Larson. He is survived by his loving sister, Karen Weisner whose beautiful paintings inspired him. John will be missed by his loving daughter, Heather Nelson and her husband, John of Tuftonboro, N.H. and his son John Larson Jr. and his wife, Pamela of Loveland, Colorado and his four grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Nelson and Alexander and Emily Larson. John adored time spent with his family and took great pride in their accomplishments and successes.
Fran and John were married on Halloween, their favorite holiday with Nole as the best kitty.
When he married Fran, John became part of another amazing family. He thought they couldn’t be real until he met Barrett Fromme (husband Chad Duffy) and Tres Fromme (husband Michael Carey) and had to agree they were so special to him. The grandkids, Emerson and Owen would lock him in the downstairs bedroom where he loved being their captive so many Christmas mornings.
John was “a Tar Heel born” and “a Tar Heel bred” and when he died, “a Tar Heel dead”. Rah Rah Carolina!
“I'm a Tar Heel born.
I'm a Tar Heel bred.
And when I die I'll be a Tar Heel dead.
So it's rah rah Carolina-lina.
Rah rah Carolina-lina.”
North Carolina Sports were followed in our home, recorded and rewatched if they won!
John had many careers…from writing for McGraw Hill’s BusinessWeek, General Manager of Competition Motors in Greenwich to owner of his own golf apparel stores and embroidery company.
John’s true calling was his photography. His talent was incredible. He waited patiently for the snowy owl to take flight and capture it’s beauty. His love of photographing nature was partly inspired by his love of being on the water. He also joined Fran at Ronald McDonald House taking pictures of the kids and their families at Halloween and other events. His talented eye often caught the joy of a child meeting the Hulk or a clown, sharing their moments of joy with those not there.
As John approaches the Rainbow Bridge, his kitties Nole and Bella and his dog Shiloh are waiting for him to spoil them, as always. Remy and Maggie are very sad but promise to keep Fran entertained.
In the last few weeks, John wanted to throw a birthday party for Fran, go to Maine to see the newly completed bathroom he designed and have a lobster roll. He got it all done!
John was a friend, a lover and the kindest, gentlest soul you will ever meet. He will be loved and missed forever in our hearts, our words and our deeds.
We are so grateful for the support of friends and family. Tim Stansky, Susan Calzone, Dianne Farley and Marisel Perez are angels. The Bloomberg Family continues to be more than one could imagine with their love and support.
