Born in Staten Island in 1934, Isabel Spalluto Leonhardt was one of a kind. She was loving, funny and energetic. Those who loved her will tell you she never aged.
Isabel passed away at her home on April 29th, happy to be with her daughter Christine and Grandson Rafael as they weathered the Covid-19 pandemic.
Beloved mother of Christine Leonhardt of NYC and Bob and Lesley Leonhardt of Wellesley, Ma. Much loved Grandmother of Rafael, Raluca and Bobby Leonhardt. She started her life in Staten Island, daughter to Stella and Charles Spalluto, her father owned a lumber yard. After high school she took the Staten Island Ferry to Wall Street where she worked for many years and met her husband Robert Leonhardt. They raised their two children in Pennsylvania and Connecticut until Robert passed away, far too early, in 1983.
Isabel took the reigns following his death and got her real estate license- embarking on a career which carried her into her 80s and gave her many wonderful, lifelong friends, joy and support.
She will be remembered for her larger than life personality, her engaging stories, her love of family and always making time to enjoy her friends.
She loved to travel, a good hearty game of scrabble and a chilled Vodka drink at dusk. Isabel also loved dogs and they loved her - Gibby to Ariel to Raven and Hamlet, she gave them a home and love as she gave all of us and they adored her. She will truly be missed
