Gloria Agatha Mills

Gloria was welcomed into the world on January 10th, 1960, in St. Thomas Jamaica West Indies. The sixth child of the late Jestina and Kenneth Minott. She was affectionately given the name Gloria Agatha after her beloved aunt.

Growing up in St. Thomas she graduated from Morant Bay High School where she excelled in school and eventually worked her way to the College of Arts Science and Technology (CAST) where she studied Business Administration. She spent several years later working at Life of Jamaica Insurance Company before migrating to the United States in the mid 1980’s.

She was married to Juan Mills for 22 years and they welcomed a beautiful daughter Dana into their lives, whom she cherished until her dying breath. She worked at Merrill Lynch for a short stint before moving on Glencore in 1989 as a secretary and finished the rest of her career as Tax Analysis with the said company.

Gloria always had and infectious smile and would throw her head back when she was having a good laugh. She enjoyed travelling and spending holidays with her family. Her favorite holiday was Christmas where she enjoyed being Mrs. Claus and loved opening gifts and sharing her love.

She had a passion for life and valued friendship, most of which she has maintained since high school.

Gloria was recently baptized into the body of Christ at the Promise Land Church of God in West Haven CT. This was another proud moment in her life in which she was delighted to share her excitement of being reborn. She believed that God was the helm of her life and was confident that His will was the best for her life.

Gloria leaves to cherish her memory; her daughter Dana Mills, her sisters Maruca Johnson (Mar) Stamford CT, Brother-in law Oswald Johnson (Tony),Rose Minott (Dawn) Bridgeport CT, Hermine Mason Calgary Canada; Brother Claudius Minott (Claudie) Jamaica; Aunt Sybil Edwards (Aunt Dottie); 10 nieces and 7 nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by sisters Ettie Harris and Patricia Walker and nephew Tyrone Walker.
