Geza Charles Ziegler, Sr. passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 surrounded by his loving family at home. He was born July 17, 1932 in Budapest, Hungary. He was the son of the late Dr. Theresa F. Ziegler and Geza Ziegler. Geza was educated in Hungary and in the United States and is a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute with an MSEE degree. He worked as a licensed Professional Engineer in the Stamford area throughout his career, and as an educator and Vice President of the Danbury Branch of the Bridgeport Engineering Institute. Geza was a long-time volunteer member of the Long Ridge Fire Company where he was recognized for his service as Secretary and Firefighter. He was a recognized member of the North Stamford Association from 1981-2006 including the Louis A. Clapes Award. He was an active member of the St. Leo’s Parish in Stamford, CT. Geza was the recipient of the Saint Augustine Medal of Service Award in 2005 and received the honor of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus.
Geza is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Esther D. Ziegler; his children, Geza Ziegler, Jr. and his wife, Pamela, Julie Ziegler Farris, Adrienne Ziegler Domke and her husband, Gary, and Peter Ziegler. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jeremy, Jason, Timmy, and Garrett Ziegler; Sarah and Alex Farris; Gary John, Nicholas, and Ariana Domke; Danielle and Benjamin Ziegler.
In addition to his parents, Geza was pre-deceased by his grandson, Bryce Ziegler. Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home in Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Leo Church in Stamford. Internment will be at St. John’s Cemetery in Stamford.
