Elaine Rose, 78, died on Friday, October 29, 2021 after living a life full of love and family. Born in Peoria, Illinois to Seymour and Belle (Levy) Rosenberg, she is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard Rose; her children, Jeffrey, Jody and Mark and their spouses Katie, Rick and Jen; and her eight grandchildren, Tommy (Samantha), Maggie, Sam, Lauren, Nathan, Hannah, Carson, and Willow. She is also survived by her sister Judy Scher, and nephews Craig and Mark Scher.
Elaine was defined by her strength and bravery, enabling her to overcome a series of serious health challenges throughout her life. It started with polio as a child but took centerstage with advanced cancer in the early 1990’s. She was able to beat cancer, giving her another 28 years to enjoy the fruits of her growing family. Elaine volunteered at the Stamford Hospital cancer center for many years, finding purpose and meaning in helping others cope with cancer and the treatment side effects.
Elaine loved life, and was all about family and home. She warmly welcomed people into her home and her family. This was true especially at Thanksgiving. Elaine loved large family gatherings. Up until the pandemic, her home was still the main gathering place. It was impossible to leave hungry; somehow she knew if someone wasn’t eating as much as she thought they should be.
Remembrance services will be held at the family home on Sunday November 7 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Stamford Hospital Foundation or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Elaine will be dearly missed. May her memory be a blessing to us all.
