Ruby was born in Bessemer City, North Carolina, the youngest of eight children. Preceded in death by her parents and siblings along with one son; James Barton, her son-in-law; Michael Demory and her husband; Clarence Juan Barton.
Survivors include her daughters; Jackie Demory, Johanna Eckley and her husband; Todd Eckley, grandchildren; Jason Demory, Jimmy Barton, Sean Demory and Sarah Eckley. Ruby was married for 63 years to Clarence (Cal) Barton.
Ruby was an entrepreneur having owned retail businesses throughout her working years while balancing family as well. Ruby was a member of the Eastern Star, Lioness Club and Red Hat Society. Ruby cherished her children and grandchildren, she loved talking about them. She instilled wonderful values and the true sense of family in them. Always a smile and a hug for people, she was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
A service will be held in Ruby’s hometown at a later date.
