John Joseph Peter Reddy

Colonel John Joseph Peter Reddy, USMC, (Retired), 86, died February 14, 2014 at Colony Ridge Nursing Home in Nags Head, N.C., where he resided since 2007.
He was born on August 24, 1927, in New York City. After graduation in 1950 from St. John’s University, in New York, he was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps. As a Marine Aviator, he flew many types of aircraft to include the A-6E Intruder. He served as Commanding Officer of Marine All Weather Attack Squadron 225 in Vietnam.
He later advanced to Commanding Officer, Marine Aircraft Group 14, Cherry Point, N.C.
He rose to the rank of Colonel, and retired from active duty in 1979 from the faculty of the Armed Forces Staff College, Norfolk, Virginia.
After retirement from the Marine Corps, he served as a Financial Planner for the City of Norfolk for ten years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Theresa M. Reddy, of Southern Shores, N.C., five married children and eleven grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2014, at the Quantico Marine Corp Base Chapel. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.
