He was born on November 15, 1986 to David and Deborah Freeman in Wellsville, New York. Jason grew up in a large, loving family in Knoxville, Pennsylvania, where he was seventh in line out of ten children. He was homeschooled and helped his grandparents on the farm, his dad with his HVAC business, and most fondly remembered by Jason, his brother, Jamie, in the shop. Jason left Pennsylvania at the age of 19 to join the United States Navy. Jason was a veteran of the United States Navy, where he proudly served in Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1 (NMCB1) in Gulfport, Mississippi as a Builder from 2006 to 2011. During his time as a Seabee, Jason embarked on several deployments, including Iraq, Afghanistan, and Timor-Leste. He often spoke proudly of his accomplishments during those times.
On December 21, 2010, Jason met the love of his life, Deana Rasnick. A short two and a half months later, they were married in March, 2011, and were expecting their first baby by June of that year. Jason decided to separate from the military in 2011 to focus on his growing family. He completed his service in September 2011 after one final deployment and returned home to Deana to eagerly await the birth of his son. Once out of the military, Jason became a stay-at home dad until he returned to work in 2017. Jason welcomed his first born, Conor, in February 2012, one of the happiest and most proud days of his life. Conor's debut was followed shortly after by the birth of Jason's second child, Teagan, in June 2013. Jason was ecstatic to be a father and couldn't be more proud of and loving to his family. His world revolved around them as did theirs around him.
Jason was an everyday carry (EDC) enthusiast, always having his pockets filled with tools to ensure he was prepared no matter what he encountered. Most notably on his EDC list was Jason's watch collection. He had 25 watches, many of which he built and tinkered with to personalize them as his own, something he was so very proud of. Jason was a lover of history, fantasy fiction novels - especially The Wheel of Time book series, Factory Five racing, all things mustang, legos, James Bond, video games - especially the Legend of Zelda, and a multitude of anime shows. He was truly a kid at heart and anyone who knew him couldn't help but love that about him.
Jason will be remembered for his unique personality, his willingness to help everyone, his gorgeous blue eyes, sly smile, captivating laugh, and absolute love and adoration for his family. He was a dedicated husband, father, friend, and employee. His death leaves a hole in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
His memory will be carried on by many, but none so much as his surviving family: his treasured wife and children, his mother, Deborah; his brothers, Jeremy (Melissa), Jon (Kellie), Joel, Jamie (Tara), Jesse (Marleena), Justin (Hailey), Jeffrey (Laureena), his sister Joy (Doug), his mother-in-law Patricia (Ronnie), father-in-law Dean, and many many nieces and nephews. Jason was preceded in death by his father David and sister Joanna.
A visitation for Jason will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Road, Stafford, VA 22554, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 PM.
