He is survived by his daughter, Courtney Tollefson; his son, Jamayl Tollefson; his significant other, Nicole Ro and her children; and his father, Willard Tollefson.
Dave will also be greatly missed by his siblings, Sharon Martine, Sandy (Skip) Bain, Larry (Tabetha) Tollefson, Pam (Kerry) Jasperson, and Charlotte (Mike) Klema; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marion Tollefson; his brothers, Norman Tollefson and Jerry Tollefson; his maternal grandparents, Edward and Hattie Hovde; his paternal grandparents, Ingvold and Viola Tollefson; his niece, Kimberly Jasperson; and his nephew, Christopher Jasperson.
Dave was an avid Vikings, Timberwolves, and Twins fan.
He loved playing a quick game of basketball. And beating the “young bloods”. He would call them. He had a great sense of humor.
Dave LOVED his family back in Minnesota. They kept him grounded. When he’d call his dad it would just make his day. He loved catching up with his nephews and nieces. The stories and the photos they shared he kept and carried with him so he could have them close.
He enjoyed fishing, yard work, and giving his time to help others. He was a true loving, kind, & selfless man. He was also a social butterfly.
Dave retired after 20 years of service in the United States Navy.
Dave had a couple of work place nicknames:
“Rise and Shine”, they wondered how anybody could be so happy, loud and chipper early in the mornings? And you just drove thru all this traffic!
And another called him “the Sheriff “, cause he didn’t take no ***** from anybody regarding work. He made sure he took care of the people he worked with and for. And, they appreciated him and his dedication.
Dave will be laid to rest at Quantico National Cemetery following a Celebration of Life.
