He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Dent Marsh; parents, William L. and H. Lorraine Marsh; and brother, William "Bill" L. Marsh II.
Dave is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Faust and her husband Mike of Hartwood; grandchildren, Jessica (fiance, Mick McKenzie) and D. Michael Faust; grandpuppy, Parker; sister- and brother-in-law, Charlene and Jim Knicely of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Marcie Marsh of Virginia; niece, Dawn Knicely; nephews, Billy and Chad Marsh; cousins, Jimmy Clay and Pat Marsh, Naomi Jarvis, and Bob Jarvis; as well as friend Linda Musselman.
Dave graduated from Fairmont Senior High School in West Virginia, receiving his BS from Fairmont State College (now University) in Fairmont, W.VA, where he was an athlete and became a life-long member of the Theta Xi fraternity and the Epsilon Pi Tau professional fraternity. Additionally, he earned his Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin, Platteville, and was a doctoral candidate at Virginia Tech.
Mr. Marsh was a long-time educator in Prince William County, Virginia, where he taught Industrial Arts before moving into administrative roles there, the City of Manassas Park, and in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. His final 17 years prior to retirement were spent as an Assistant Superintendent for Stafford County Public Schools.
Throughout his life, Dave had a special affinity for the outdoors and enjoyed time spent hunting, fishing, and camping, pursuits he was anxious to share with his family. He was talented in leather and woodwork and was mechanically inclined. He also enjoyed learning about US history, especially of Virginia and West Virginia. In retirement, Dave kept himself occupied working outdoors, spending time with family, and regularly meeting with friends.
The family will receive visitors for an informal Celebration of Life for David Marsh on Friday, April 7, 2023, from 5-7 pm at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford location. Inurnment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages expressions of sympathy to be made in the form of gifts to preferred charities in Dave's memory.
