Obituary of Aileen Jeanette Campbell
Aileen Jeanette Campbell of Woodbridge, Virginia, passed away peacefully in hospice at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center and went to be with the Lord on March 17th at age 91. She was born on July 16, 1931, in Rome, New York to Clarence and Dorothy Riley and was the oldest of five girls. She is survived by her sons, George and Ken; her daughters, Kathy and Suzanne; and her sister, Shirley Fox. She will also be greatly missed by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Aileen had an eventful life from beginning to end. She grew up in the Great Depression Era, followed by World War II, and contracted scarlet fever during this time. She was of Irish descent, nicknamed “Irish”, and loved her heritage. Aileen was a strong-willed, loving, nurturing mother, grandma, and friend. After her marriage to William, an active duty marine in the military, she traveled to many places consisting of New York, North Carolina, California, Texas, Hawaii, Maryland, and Virginia. Although one of her favorite adventures was traveling to Hawaii with her two oldest sons and being pregnant with her youngest. She learned the island way of life and the traditional island dance. Their Springfield home in Virginia was one of her favorite homes, and although it had its quirks, she loved it. Aileen was an avid baker, homemaker, crocheter, cross-stitcher, and part of the choir at Grace Presbyterian Church. She shared her love of cooking and baking with all her children, with each child sharing a favorite dish she had made. Aileen’s personality was spunky, feisty, and carefree. She had a fond love of her sweets which consisted of ice cream with a notable obsession with coffee. Aileen retired in 1976 as a Bank Proof Operator at a local bank in Northern Virginia. Aileen is now met with her husband, William, and her eldest son, John in heaven with her Lord and Savior. Still, she was deeply loved and will be extremely missed. Services will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Services, 186 Shelton Shop Road, Stafford, Virginia. Guest previewing will be held at 1:00 pm before the service with a private burial to be happening later.
