Terri was born on December 23, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York to Catherine O'Connor and Patrick Maloney. After graduating from Bishop McDonnell Catholic High School, Terri worked at General Motors in Manhattan. She met the love of her life Gerard Connell at a Knights of Columbus dance in Brooklyn. They married in 1952 and raised five children on Long Island, New York before relocating to Houston in 1970.
Soon after, Terri and her husband joined the newly established Catholic Church of St. Albert of Trapani, remaining devout parishioners for over 50 years. Terri served for many years as minister of the Eucharist and led a bible study from 2015-2019.
After retiring from her job of many years at Sears, Terri went on to volunteer at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in March 1993 for a total of 4,320 hours over 27 years. She is remembered there for “having offered millions of prayers for volunteers, staff and patients over the years.”
Terri is preceded in death by her husband Gerry and her son Joseph as well as her parents, brother James and sister Kathleen Lamneck. Those left to cherish her are her daughter Mary Connell, daughter Linda Dennison (Emerson Marcellus), daughter Susan Varga (Peter), son Geoffrey Connell (Naoko) and grandchildren Lisa Dennison (Jeff Woodruff), Marie Connell Nakashima (Yuuzo), Mark Connell, Andrew Varga and Thomas Varga and great-great grandchildren, Ellis Dennison-Woodruff and Haru-kun Nakashima.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday evening, June 22, 2021 from 5-7pm (light refreshments) at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 S. Kirkwood Rd, Stafford, TX 77477, immediately followed by a Rosary from 7-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 11:00am at St. Albert of Trapani Catholic Church, located at 11027 S. Gessner Rd. Houston, TX 77071. There will be an opportunity to visit with the family immediately prior to the mass between 10-11am. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm at Houston National Cemetery, located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038.
