Russell Amparo Bantigue was born on June 26, 1972 to Richard and Eden Bantigue in Jersey City, New Jersey. He passed peacefully on September 3rd, 2019 after a 14 month battle with cancer in Houston, Texas.
Russell served in the US Navy for eleven years working his way to Petty Officer First Class. He served aboard the newly built USS Truman based in Norfolk, Virginia and while deployed supported operations during the Iraq War and enforced UN sanctions in the Gulf.
Toward the end of his service, he was based in Saratoga Springs, New York to help train others on reactor maintenance. During this time, Russell attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and graduated with a degree in Nuclear Engineering
Shortly after leaving the Navy in 2005, Russell continued to work in the nuclear industry in Homestead, Florida for Florida Power and Light as a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor. He joined Bechtel eventually working at the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant in East Tennessee, then onto Washington State as a Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer.
He is preceded in death by Felix and Victoria D. Bantigue and Eugenio and Josefa Amparo. He is survived by his parents Richard and Eden Bantigue and younger siblings Victoria and Richard A. Bantigue, Jr.
