John Skidmore of Houston, Texas, formerly of Frankston, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2014. He was 84. He was born in Grapeland, Texas on July 5, 1929. After graduating from Grapeland High School in 1948 he played Basketball for Henderson County Junior College in Athens, Texas for two years while studying Business Administration. He then served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean War. After his military service he attended the University of Houston and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting in 1960. He worked as an accountant his entire professional career retiring as the Controller for Pilgrim Enterprises of Houston, Texas in 1987. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Bennie Skidmore, a son, Ronald David Skidmore, six brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Estalene Skidmore of Houston, Texas, a son, Eric and wife Deborah Skidmore of Friendswood, Texas, two granddaughters, Amelia DeLane of Katy, Texas, and Julia Jenkins and husband Jonathan of Richmond, Texas, one great-grandson James Eric DeLane of Katy, Texas, and many nephews and nieces. We will miss our beloved “Papaw” a loving husband, father, grandfather and believer in Christ. Arrangements under the direction of Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, Stafford, TX.
