JESSIE “J.R.” RICHARDSON WHITE, Louisiana native and longtime resident of Missouri City, TX, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the age of 85. He was born August 24, 1924, in the small town of Shongaloo, LA. Known throughout his life as J.R., he was one of 9 children born to Jessie and Mattie White. J.R. eloped with his high school sweetheart, Colleen Lindsey in Springhill, LA, on March 11, 1944. Together they had one son; Wyman R. White. During their 66 years of wedded bliss, they traveled the globe while living and working in such places as Australia, Canada, and other numerous locations throughout the U.S. J.R. was a highly recognized employee for forty-five years of Hudson McDermott before retiring in 1990. He then continued to work for an additional thirteen years for Taylor Technical. A Southern Baptist Deacon, J.R. served the Lord passionately. J.R. was a friendly man, who was highly respected for his honesty and integrity. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Quinton, Hershel and Herbert White; and one sister, Odessa Sexton. J.R. is survived by his beloved wife, Colleen of Missouri City; three sisters, Opal Burns of Shongaloo, LA, Thalia Mouser of Shongaloo, LA, and Ann Davis of Houston, TX; one brother, Bob White of Sarepta, LA; son, Wyman White of Antioch, CA; two grandchildren, Andrea Reed of Sanford, MI, and Ronnie White of Manvel, TX; six great-grandchildren, Justin and Lindsey White of Houston, Darren, Ashley and Shane Yzquierdo of Mesa, AZ, and Bruce Reed III of Midland, MI; and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. A visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, on Thursday, June 17, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, on Friday, June 18, 2010. Both the visitation and funeral services will be held at Heritage Baptist Church, Missouri City, TX. J.R.’s incredible journey will end where it started. He will return to Shongaloo, Louisiana, for his final resting place at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Heritage Baptist Church, 2223 FM 1092, Missouri City, TX.
