With God in her heart, Grace Failla left peacefully on Friday, February 9th, 2024. Born as Grace Marie Imbraguglio on October 21st, 1928 to Marie (Embesi) and Raymond Imbraguglio, in the “East End” of Houston. Grace attended Austin High School and worked in the family business. In 1945, Grace was visiting with others at an Italian Feast where she met the love of her life, Frank Failla of Stafford, Texas. On June 27th, 1948 the two were married at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. They shared sixty-six loving years. They were proud of the life they built, especially proud of their daughters: Janie, Carolyn and Lisa. Grace raised three girls and never drove a car! Grace was known as an impeccable homemaker. She was admired for her hospitality, clean house and the ability to put a meal on the table before you had time to decline the invitation! Grace was the happiest in Sargent where she enjoyed boiling and preparing blue crabs with fried fish. Nonetheless, she played a big role in the making of Italian venison sausage in her kitchen. Her Sunday dinners included pasta and gravy with fried chicken.
Grace moved to Del Webb community in 2017. Her kind spirit was well received and reciprocated by her devoted neighbors. In 2019, an Angel named Lidia came into her life. Their bond was instant! Together they were known to pray for their families, sing in Spanish, share the love for seafood, eat ice cream and play beauty shop. But her favorite was being “chauffeured” through small towns in search of new restaurants. Lidia knew how to put a smile on her face.
The family would also like to thank Jolie, Iraida, C-C, Chris and Nancy for playing a heartfelt role in her care.
She is survived by her sisters, Shirley Lewis, Concetta Drake and Lena Mae Burkhalter. As well as her children, Janie and (Jeff) Johnson, Carolyn and (Michael) Scoggins and Lisa and (Terry) Raska; her grandchildren, Shelley Johnson, Kristin and Rob Stewart, Tony Johnson and Leah Baker, Jason and Stacy Shurley, Michael Scoggins, Garrett and Hilary Raska, Westin and Caitlin Raska; great-grandchildren, Grace Stewart, Ross Stewart, Jack Stewart, Jaycee Shurley, Rylee Shurley, Anthony Johnson, Natalie Nava, Charlotte Johnson, Jake Johnson and Rayne Raska.
Grace is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Frank and sister, Nancy Dowies.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 507 S. 4th Street in Richmond, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.
