Gary was born in Wisconsin to John and Virginia (Wulff) Rozek. Gary had two older brothers - Mike and Ken. The family moved to Orlando, Florida when the doctor encouraged southern warm weather to facilitate the exercise Gary needed for his diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy.
Gary's mother was instrumental in raising Gary for his first 50 years. Gary operated a residential lawn service company for several years. Gary loved driving his red Toyota truck that pulled a red trailer containing equipment including his red riding lawn mower. His mother later suggested that he apply for work at Home Depot that would not be as strenuous as lawn mowing. Gary worked at Home Depot for over 21 years doing multiple tasks and making many friends. He retired when Covid arrived.
In Palm Coast, Florida, Gary was a greeter at St. Marks-by-the Sea Lutheran Church and made many friends. Gary’s brother Ken Rozek helped Gary move to Texas 3 years ago to live with him. In Houston, Gary and Ken attended Christ the Servant Lutheran Church. There also Gary made many friends.
Though mobile and active most of his life, age took a toll on his legs and ability to walk. Gary moved into a skilled nursing facility in Missouri City last year. Gary left us suddenly. It is with profound happiness that he is now with Jesus without any physical disabilities.
Gary's ashes will be sent to Orlando, Florida to be placed next to his mother's ashes.
A memorial service for Gary will be held in Houston sometime in May.
