Brenda was born on April 20, 1959 in Lafayette, Indiana. She was the oldest daughter born to Merle Stanley Pfeil and Rosa Marie Wann Pfeil.
The Pfeil family lived in Hong Kong for about 5 years during her youth and then returned to Lafayette, Indiana. Brenda graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and worked for several years before attending what is now known as Utah Valley University. During this time period, Brenda met her husband, Blaine Bartholomew, while attending a young adult congregation or student ward that was affiliated with Brigham Young University.
Brenda and Blaine were married on April 26, 1982. They have four children Jeni (Rob) Groff of Odgen, UT, Breanna (Jason) Carroll of Bastrop, TX, Jason Bartholomew of Payson, UT, Sarah Bartholomew of McMinnville, OR, and seven grandchildren: Joseph Fearn, Ayden, Faith, Liam, and Zora Groff, and Aspen and Blake Carroll. They lived in Davis and San Diego areas for nine years during graduate school and postdoctoral training, before moving to Carbondale, IL. After spending over 22 years in Carbondale they moved to Bastrop, TX and 14 months ago moved to Sugarland, TX. Brenda has been a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and has served in many different capacities. She served as Stake Young Women’s Camp Director, Ward Primary and Young Women’s President, and in both Ward and Stake Relief Society Presidencies. She gave good advice and was a mentor/supporter to many. Brenda has had an incredible impact on the lives of many and been an amazing example of a true disciple of Jesus Christ. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by many.
Brenda was a gentle, loving, strong-willed, generous, caring woman. She loved spending time with family and loved nature, aside from spiders. She enjoyed the ocean and spending time at the shore. Her hobbies were crochet, knitting, gardening, reading and crafts. Brenda loved children and enjoyed going on family vacations that inevitably entailed long road trips. She had the opportunity to travel to Norway, Italy, Germany, Peru and Australia with her husband.
She is survived by her mother, Rosa Pfeil and six siblings; Mike (Adel) Pfeil, Robert (Rima) Pfeil, Lauren (Ken) Rowe, Merle “Stan” (Lisa) Pfeil II, Vernon (Katherine) Pfeil, Sarah (Alan) Hillman, and Roxanne (Paul) Deck as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Merle Pfeil, and her sister Rachel Pfeil.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 139 Pecan Park Drive in Rosenberg, immediately followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
The interment will follow, via funeral procession to Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston.
