Betty Weems

Betty was born on May 11, 1946 in Du Quoin, Illinois to June and Helen Stanhouse.

She is preceded in death by her parents, June and Helen Stanhouse.Betty is survived by her husband, William Weems, son, Mark Weems, daughter, Jennifer Weems, son-in-law, Alejandro Leyva, grandsons Ryan Weems, Alexander Leyva and Daniel Leyva, granddaughters, Sara Weems and Selestina Leyva.

She was raised in Carlsbad, New Mexico where she met William Weems, her high school sweetheart, whom she married. She graduated from Baylor University where she studied history and English. Betty loved teaching and spent over 40 years in the classroom touching the lives of many students and co-workers. Most of that time was spent teaching in Lamar Consolidated Independent School District at B.F. Terry High School and 1621 place. She loved her students and always wanted what was best for them. Family was important to her, and she adored her 2 children and 5 grandchildren for whom she always made time. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always tried to bring joy to what she was doing. When someone was in need, she was always willing to help and went above and beyond for her children and grandchildren when they needed her. Betty was an amazing person who will be tremendously missed.
