Dr. Arthur Herbert Thompson, age 86, entered into heavenly rest in Saint Pete Beach, Florida, on June 29th 2022. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where he also lettered in tennis and squash. He attended the University of Pittsburgh Medical School and completed his psychiatric residency at Western Psychiatric Institute of Pittsburgh.
At the age of 5 he survived the bombing at Pearl Harbor where his father, Colonel Arthur Thompson M.D., was stationed. He later served as a captain in the United States Air Force. He practiced general medicine in Millvale, Pennsylvania and then psychiatry in Pittsburgh until he retired.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Eileen Hreha Thompson, daughter Dr. Jeanne Thompson, daughter-in-law Kim Schroerlucke, brother Dr. Robert Thompson (Susan), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister Leah Firth.
He was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, Penguins, and the University of Pittsburgh sports teams.
A memorial service will be held on July 5th, 2022 at Beach Memorial Chapel in St Pete Beach, FL.
