I know that you all know what a special person Auntie Rita was.  She will always hold a special place in my heart and I cherish all of the memories I have of spending time with her.  She was a patient cribbage teacher, a kind and gentle fun-loving spirit up for an adventure, and an unconditional giver of love. Rita was one of the kindest person I have met. We have only known her and John for about four years and have been blessed to know such a wonderful person. She will be sadly missed but it is a blessing to know she will not suffer any more pain and she will be able to read many good books in heaven. To the Barton family:  I am so sorry for you loss.  As Zach, Sam, and Rachael's uncle (on their mother's side) I would usually see Rita at birthdays, holidays, and special events involving her grandchildren.  Rita was always instrumental in making those event memorable.  She was a great lady and surely will be missed.

Auntie Rita was one of the kindest souls I have known. It is a common thread to many of these notes. When my dad passed so many years ago, Rita was a rock that our family leaned on. God bless.

Although time passes and life changes relationships, our memories can't be touched; they are safe! I have the fondest memories of Rita, with her quick wit and sharp mind. John and I are so sad about the loss of Aunt Rita. Being the youngest of the first cousins, I often felt on my own. Aunt Rita always found time to sit and talk to me and ask about my life, making me feel more connected to the Barton clan. She was a gentle soul, indeed. As adults, John and I were happy to spend time with her in Santa Rosa Beach. Aunt Rita was a sister to my mom, and I was always grateful for that with Mom's family so far away in New York. I know that Grandma & Grandpa Barton, my dad and Uncle Mike welcomed her with open arms. Hope there are casinos and books in heaven.

I didn't spend a lot time with Rita, as we were always out running the neighborhood and being teenagers, but I do recall the times I was at your house your Mom was always welcoming and cheerful.  It's so hard to lose our loved ones and I hope you have great comfort in your memories and knowing that she is at peace.  Blessings and peace to you all.

Being a wonderful person doesn't even justify Rita's personality. She was a rock and the great equalizer in the family. I pray for your family  the strength to make it through

Tom and I are so incredibly sad over the loss of Rita. What a wonderful mom, wife, aunt, friend, sister and grandmother. She has been like a mother to me for the past few years. God Bless Rita.

John and family, sorry for you loss. I will remember her fondly.

Almost 30 years ago when I was a hair stylist at Angie's, Rita came in for haircuts. One time I mentioned to her that I was hungry because I was going to school and working and didn't have time for dinner in between. A month later when she came in for another haircut she brought me a bag lunch. She was so sweet to remember.

We are so very sorry for your loss.  Auntie Rita gave us so many loving memories, she will be sadly missed by all of us.

John and family, I will miss Rita so much.  She was a wonderful mother-in-law and I will be forever grateful for her wisdom and many kindnesses.  I have so many memories of her giving me advice, teaching me how to be a mother, and being a friend.  She was fabulous grandmother to my children and their cousins.  My heartfelt condolences to all of you.

Annette is a tremendous friend and this is a testimony of having great parents and a loving mother.  My sympathy to your family and hopes that great memories of Florida and weekend casino getaways will keep her spirit with you.  Heart Hugs.

I remember Rita moving Annette into the dorms, she was so calm and cool headed! She always had a smile on her face and a kind word to say.  I am sad that I never made it to the casino with her.
