Matt/"Butz"
April 10, 1931 - May 3, 2010
Age 79
Passed away after a seven year struggle with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. He leaves an enduring imprint on the hundreds of people who love him, first and foremost, his beautiful, devoted wife of 57 years, Darlene. Together they raised 5 children who will carry his virtue, jokes, and wry smile with them for the rest of their days: Kathy (Al) Kilberg, Mike (Judy), Bob (Paula), Dave (Cindy), and Joe (Renee Curtin). He will be deeply missed by his 11 grandchildren, Krista and Allison Kilberg, Jillian and Anna Schwartz, Matt, Hannah, Sophie and Ellie Schwartz, Jenna and Jack Schwartz, and Taylor Herr. Matt is survived by his sister JoAnn (Greg) Paul, his wonderful in-laws, affectionately called "The Carle Clan" (Darlene's brothers and sisters), and finally, his only surviving aunt and uncle, Margaret & Lawrence Vevang, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Matt also created a loving family of friends throughout his life, most notably as a 54 year parishioner of Presentation BVM, the US Postal Service (where he retired in 1983 after 33 years), and the Korean War Vets, 10th Infantry Division.
