David was born on March 18th, 1943, to Norma and Charles Woodbeck and raised two sons, David, and Daniel. Mary Jeanson is the mother of his children.
David was a 1961 Graduate of Johnson High School in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and attended the University of River Falls graduating with a degree in Education in 1967. He spent 30+ years as a teacher and was beloved by many of his students who often referred to him as caring and passionate about their education. In addition, he coached girls’ softball for many years at Hazel Park Junior high in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
David was an avid hunter and fisherman. Many of his closest friends were a part of his hunting adventures. For the last several years of his life, he would take numerous friends and family on fishing trips in Cudjoe Key Florida where he had a winter home for over 20 years. He was an active athlete who played high school and semi-pro football. In addition, he also played numerous sports such as broomball, softball, and golf which all produced rich friendships and legendary stories.
David was preceded in death by his father, Charles, his mother, Norma, and his brother Dick. He is survived by his two sisters Marilyn Lund and Beverly Lais, his two children, David (Sue), and Daniel (Randi). He is survived by his three grandchildren, Justin, Alli, Josh, and two great-grandchildren Beckham and Sofia, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial visitation followed by a memorial service to celebrate David’s life will take place at 12:00PM, Friday, June 25, 2021, at Wulff Funeral Home (1485 White Bear Ave N, Saint Paul).
