Bernard "Bernie" Johnson

Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather

Passed away peacefully at his home on June 2, 2013. Bernie was born April 17, 1931 in Benson, MN. He graduated from Benson H.S. in 1949; attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD on a football scholarship, Veteran of the US Air Force; retired Ramsey County Deputy Sheriff. He spent most of his law enforcement career at Regions Hospital, and had many fond memories of the friendships he formed there. He was an avid sportsman, an excellent cook and a proud Norwegian. He was especially proud to be “Poopa” to his two grandsons, Ben and Noah. Bernie is preceded in death by his Parents, Ben and Ethel; First Wife, Patricia Kuehen; Brother-in-Law, Jim Jossart. He is survived by Gloria, his Wife of 51 Years; Son, Scott (Cindy) Johnson; Daughter, Kristi (David) Miner; Grandchildren, Ben and Noah Miner; Brother, David (Bonnie), Sister, Toni Jossart; Numerous Nieces, Nephews and Friends. A special thank you to Health Partners Hospice Care Team 8 for their compassionate care. Memorial Service at 11 AM Monday, June 10th at Beaver Lake Lutheran Church, 2280 Stillwater Ave. E., Maplewood with Visitation one hour prior to the service. Inurnment at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the church.
