Stanley Joseph Reaux, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on January 18, 1947, in Erath, Louisiana, Stanley was the son of the late Jean and Lucille LeMaire Reaux. He was one of five boys born to their loving union.
Stanley's life was marked by commitment and service. He dedicated over three decades of his life to the City of New Iberia, where his hard work and dedication left an indelible mark on those around him. Even after retiring from municipal service, Stanley continued to contribute to his community by joining the team at Stuller Settings, where he worked diligently for several more years.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Stanley found joy and solace in the simple pleasures of life. He was an outdoorsman through and through, finding peace in the quiet of nature while hunting and fishing. His competitive spirit shone brightly on the bowling lanes, where he enjoyed countless hours perfecting his game. Stanley also had a passion for the silver screen, particularly cowboy movies, and the thrill of wrestling matches on television. However, nothing could match his enthusiasm for cheering on his beloved LSU and Saints Football teams.
Despite facing challenges due to his hearing impairment, Stanley's resilience and determination were unmatched. He refused to let any obstacle hinder his ability to work hard and pursue his passions. His dedication to the deaf community was evident in his role as a founding member of the Lafayette Athletic Association for the Deaf, where he worked tirelessly to create opportunities for others like himself.
Above all else, Stanley will be remembered for his unwavering love and devotion to his wife, Agnes, who remained by his side until the very end. His kind heart, strong work ethic, and infectious spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 52 years, Agnes Guidry Reaux, one brother Howard J. Reaux and wife Beverly and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, John Ray Reaux, Cleveland Paul Reaux and Larry James Reaux.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 1:00 pm at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. Rev. Jason Vidrine will officiate.
Stanley will be laid to rest at a later date at St. Michael’s Mausoleum.
