Dieudonne "Na Na" Blanchard, age 89, departed from this world on Saturday, April 13, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, whose presence brought warmth and joy to all who knew him.
Born on July 12, 1934 in Coteau Holmes, LA to the late Anthony Blanchard, Sr. and Bernadette Bourque Blanchard and was one of nine children.
Born into a life of purpose and dedication, Dieudonne proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to duty and honor. Following his military service, he embarked on a fulfilling career as a machinist in the oilfield, where his skills and dedication earned him the respect of colleagues and friends.
Upon retirement, Dieudonne continued to enrich his life through his work at Levert St. John Sugar Mill for over a decade, exemplifying his strong work ethic and passion for contributing to his community. However, it was his fervent love for horses and horse racing that truly ignited his spirit. Every Sunday, alongside his brother, he could be found at the country tracks, reveling in the simplicity and joy of the sport they both cherished.
Yet, amidst his many passions and accomplishments, Dieudonne's greatest joy was found in the embrace of his family. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding immense fulfillment in their laughter and love. Fondly known as "Old Man" to his great granddaughter Zoie, a nickname that soon became a term of endearment for his entire family, Dieudonne's affectionate presence left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though he may have left this world, Dieudonne's spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family serve as a beacon of light, guiding us through moments of both joy and sorrow.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lorie B. Gesualdi, and husband Eric A Gesualdi; two grandchildren, Erika Linderman and husband R. C. Linderman and Michaele A. Gesualdi and two great-granddaughters, Zoie Linderman and Everlie Linderman.
