Darlene Reck “Angel” Miller, a native of Metairie and longtime resident of Breaux Bridge, passed away peacefully February 16, 2019 at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was 65.
Darlene was born July 14, 1953 in Metairie to the late Ernest Reck, Sr. and the late Myrtle Bayard Michel. She was the owner and operator of Miller Specialties, a gift shop with arts and crafts, in Breaux Bridge and at the Northgate Mall and enjoyed her every aspect of her work. Her crafts not only brought joy to her many customers, but to her as well. In her spare time, Darlene enjoyed playing video games especially the ones where she could play with her daughters. They shared a loving bond and treasured their time spent together. Her family will find joy in remembering the good times she had with her one and only true love Chuck and with their reunion in heaven. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Krystal Miller Duplechin (Paul), Kandi Alfred, Karlie Huizar (John “AJ”) and Kaitlyn Miller (Casey Wyatt); her grandchildren, Paige Miller (Luke Lasseigne), Dylan Miller, Noah Miller, Kalea Miller, Chris Miller, Makayla Babb, Brittany Miller, Aun Mirza, Miriam Mirza, Gabby Mirza Miller; her great grandchildren, Gavin, Emilee and Gunner Lasseigne; Cynthia Bordeaux and her children (whom Darlene looked upon as her own); her brother and sister, Ernest Reck, Jr. (Duane) and Linda Michel; and her furbabies she loved so dearly, Snowball and Chuckee.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years Charles “Chuck” Miller, Jr., her son-in-law, Larry Alfred; an infant sister, Emily Reck; brother-in-law, Euclid Michel; and her furbaby, Charlie.
In keeping with their mother’s wishes, the family will hold memorial service at a later date with one of her favorite meals being served….boiled crawfish with all the trimmings. And because Darlene and Chuck met during Mardi Gras, King cake will be served as well. It will be a true celebration of her beautiful life.
