CERIOTTI, Robert J. Jr.“Bobby”, died of a heart attack on November 29, 2012. Bobby loved his family so well and deeply. Devoted father to Kati and Robby, loving son of Bob and Aggie, dear big brother to Susan (Bob) Gaughan and Danny (Linda) Ceriotti, proud and adored grandpa to Rylan and Avery Zajac, future father-in-law to Marty, treasured uncle to Jenna, Ryan, Julianne, Andrew, Nicholas, and Becca. He was a great nephew, cousin, and friend to countless people.
Bobby joined the police department in 1980 and was dedicated to protect and serve. He served as a patrolman in Districts 1, 6, and 7, a detective in Narcotics for 3 years, and then as a sergeant beginning in 1993 serving in several areas. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2008 and served, with honor, in Districts 2 and 7. Bobby was a member of the Major Case Squad for 20 years and left as Deputy Commander. He boxed for the St. Louis Police Department at Guns n Hoses on three different occasions and was undefeated in all of his bouts. In addition, Bobby received 6 Chief’s Letters for his police service and 2 Meritorious Service Citations, the 2nd highest attributes designated to a police officer. He was a policeman’s policeman!
Visitation 3-7pm, Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa at Watson and 10am until time of Mass at 12 noon at St. Ambrose Catholic Church on Monday, December 3, 2012. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Backstoppers or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
