She was preceded in death by her father, Marcus Ray Midyett and mother, Lulie Ann (nee Turnbough) of Steelville, Missouri as well as her siblings Alva Midyett, (Georgia nee Puckett ) Alta Davis, ( Ernie "Jake " Davis ) Elvin Midyett, Helen Midyett, Donald Midyett, Archie Midyett, and Shirley Raines (Larry Raines-still living). She was also greeted by nieces and nephews awaiting her in heaven. Her eldest sibling Alice Bishop (the late Clifford Bishop ) of Bourbon Missouri will be 93 years old this year.
Patsy was the beloved wife of her late husband, Joseph Brian Gilson Sr. who passed in 2009. She was a
loving mother to Patricia (George) Stahl, of Farmington Missouri and Joseph Gilson Jr. of St. Louis Missouri. She was a wonderful grandmother to Erica Stahl, Crystal Gilson, Courtney Stahl, Cassandra Stahl, George Jr. (Jennifer) Stahl, Amanda Gilson, and Chelsea Gilson. She was blessed with nine great grandchildren-Kayden, Collin, Casen, & Christian (Schweiss); Aubrey (Coomer), Averey and Ashton (Blum); Brendon and Peyton (Stahl).She was also a loving aunt, sister-in-law, and friend to many. She took great pride in her American Indian heritage and was a Christian of the Baptist faith.
Patsy worked as a switchboard operator at St. Luke's hospital and St. Mary's hospital, in St. Louis Missouri, for 38 years. She was a high school graduate of Roosevelt High School (class of 1965) and graduated from college as a Medical Assistant. She had a superb work ethic and worked up until the diagnosis of her Lewy Body dementia. Prior to working as a switchboard operator, she worked at Semco Plastics, where she met her husband of 45 years. She enjoyed reading, socializing, and dancing. She loved nothing more than her yearly family reunions at Meramec Springs Park in St. James, Missouri. However, the one thing that brought her the most joy was being a grandma (Mema).
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Her graveside ceremony/burial will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021. Meeting outside the funeral home (Hoffmeister-South County) at 3 o'clock sharp and will proceed to Mount Hope Cemetery, per her request. There will be a reception, with dinner, immediately following around 4:00 P.M. at Hoffmeister South County Chapel at 1515 Lemay Ferry Rd. St. Louis, MO.
