Beloved husband of the late Renee Veir Hilz; dear father of Kristin (Greg) Campanella and Matthew Veir Hilz; dearest grandfather of Gabriella, Anthony, Matthew Jr., Daniel, Abigail and Alexander; loving brother to Julie Hilz and Wally (Marlene) Hilz.
Michael was a passionate golfer and an avid traveler. A true enthusiast of the sport, he traveled the globe, combining his love for golf with an insatiable curiosity for historical churches. Away from the fairways, Michael found solace and joy in cultivating his yard. He had a source of pride that reflected the right amount of curb appeal.
A fervent supporter of Ohio State football, Michael wore his team colors with pride, and more recently he cheered on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Family meant the world to Michael and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He was a pillar of support for his family, ever ready to lend a helping hand; whenever someone called “Papa,” he was there, a beacon of assistance and love. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he reveled in creating lasting memories with them.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable individual, let us celebrate the richness he brought to our lives and cherished memories that will forever linger in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love that he so generously shared with us.
