Michael E. DeVaney

Michael was the loving husband of Karen (nee Sluyter) DeVaney; dear father of Michael (Tiffany) and Alicia DeVaney; grandfather of Molly; brother of Steve (Marsha) DeVaney, Scott (Susan) DeVaney, and the late Lisa DeVaney; brother-in-law of Curt Sluyter and Janet Sluyter; uncle, great-uncle, cousin, and a friend to many in his lifetime.

Michael was a very outgoing and charismatic person, known for his ability to make people laugh. He loved the outdoors, nature, photography, and animals. He served as a Police Officer and later Sergeant Detective for the St. Louis Airport Police Department, the Airport Police SWAT Team, and assisted the U.S. Secret Service with numerous Presidential details in the St. Louis area. Although he claimed he was not of Irish heritage, he knew how to throw a St. Patrick’s Day party.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, March 29 from 11am-1pm at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa Street, 63109 followed by a Funeral Service at 1pm in The Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael’s memory to the BackStoppers or The Humane Society of Missouri would be greatly appreciated by his family.
