Beloved husband of Marjorie Seldin, his is survived by three children; James (Glenda) Seldin, Jeffrey (Theresa Casey) Seldin and Sally (Robert) Harrison; his stepson Keith (Kerry) Fleischer, and four grandchildren; Emily Seldin, Grady Seldin, Ellie Harrison and Grace Harrison. His parents, Herman and Selma and his sister Elaine Seldin Kornblum preceded him in death. His former wife, Suzy Seldin survives him.
Marc was a 1947 graduate of John Burroughs School where he made many lifelong friendships. He graduated form Princeton University in 1951 with a degree in architecture before serving as a captain in the Coast Guard during the Korean War.
He joined the family business, Sel-Mor Garment Company in 1953, which is now known as Miss Elaine Inc., a manufacturer of women's sleepwear and loungewear. Marc built Miss Elaine into a top selling, world-wide brand, ultimately receiving the prestigious Femmy Award in 1981 for his lifetime achievements. The company, now 90 years old, is in its third generation, run by his son, James Seldin. Marc remained actively involved in Miss Elaine's product development his entire life.
Of utmost importance to Marc was giving back to the community. As he once said of life's cycle: "In the beginning we learn. In the middle, we work hard and earn. And then, if we're lucky, we have the chance to return some of our good fortune." Marc gave generously to the City Academy, St. Louis Children's Hospital, the St. Louis Jewish Federation, Washington University and many other charitable organizations.
Memorial service Thursday, June 11th, 12:00 Noon at New Mt. Sinai Mausoleum 8430 Gravois. No visitation prior to service.The family requests memorial contributions be made to City Academy, 4175 N.
