Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, John Anthony Stewart, age 67, passed peacefully at home on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 11, 2021 of cancer. John was born on December 24, 1953, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Robert and Frances (Giacopelli) Stewart. He graduated from Normandy High School in 1973 and attended St. Louis University where he played Basketball for the Billikens.
John married his highschool sweetheart, Janis in 1978 and the two of them shared 43 memorable years together.
John’s greatest joys were being a father, a grandfather, and President of Industrial Vision Corp. He enjoyed spending time at his farm, barbequing, studying history, reading, visiting Apple Orchards, and writing articles for Barbeque News.
John modeled a form of integrity that was inspiring along with a strong Catholic faith and Character that was to be admired. He will be greatly missed by so many.
John is survived by his wife, Janis, his daughter Kay (Jacob) Pieper; son David (Jessica) Stewart and seven grandchildren, Leo, Anthony, Giorgio, and Baby Pieper, and John Paul, Lucia, and Bosco Stewart. He is also survived by his sister, Christine Oliver, and brothers Bob, Mark, and Paul Stewart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jan, and brother Dan.
The family wants to say a special thank you to all family and friends dedicated to praying for John’s soul and for all the gifts of food and time given.
There will be a private visitation for immediate family with a public funeral Mass to follow on Wednesday 14, 2021. Holy Mass will start at 10:00 AM, location is St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 4550 Telegraph Rd.
