My Dad passed away on July 12 this year.  George reminded me so much of him and if they would have known each other they would've been great friends.  We were blessed to have such wonderful fatherly figures in our lives.  I'm sure they've met in heaven and had some wonderful stories to share about their families.

It will be a year this week that you are gone, and we miss you.  We've made it through the holidays, and it was tough going at times.  You're cracking jokes with the angels now.  Love you, Papa.

To a wonderful uncle who will certainly be missed. Always, he would pull me aside and tell me his latest joke. What great memories.

What is good to know is that he is now in a better place and, God willing, we'll hear him tell yet another good joke when we are reunited in heaven.

  Words can never really  express how one feels with the loss of someone so loved  as your husband.  I know through stories Barb has shared with me that you had much happiness in your life with him and as a family.  I pray you have some comfort in the words people express here and directly to you. Know that even though I did not know him well personally I feel I knew him through all the wonderful stories shared with us.  May you know comfort in knowing he is not suffering.  My father and brother passed 4 years ago and I miss them just like it was yesterday May you be blessed in knowing that many people send prayers.     Donna Brandel

My condolences to your family. I have fond memories of coming to your house as a little child. He is with our Lord Savior now and is no longer in pain of this world.

I have so many good memories of you, Mr. Taubel. Karin and I really enjoyed being together and you made it more fun! One night we went on a hayride with some of your church friends and it was raining and cold. When we got back you made us some tea with whiskey in it. Your family was always so generous with me. I am glad to have been a part of your life.

George, I have thought about you so many times over the years. I remember how you gave me candy every morning at 10 for my snack, and when I got bigger you changed to sugar free candy :).  I remember how right before your 40th anniversary you said to me what a lucky man you are.  You were a good friend to many and a wonderful husband to Ella and great father and grandfather to your children and grand children.  We will all miss you and cherish our memories of you. George - you were a great mentor, friend and a model family man to all who knew you at Hussmann. George was my main mentor when first starting my career with Hussmann almost 30 years ago, he also became a very good friend.  My sincerest condolences to you, Ella, and your family for your loss.

I am sincerely sorry for the lost of your husband, father, and grandfather.  I was privileged to work with George for over 20 years at Hussmann and am truly honored to call him my friend.  I will remember him as a man who enjoyed life and loved his family.  I enjoyed listening to George’s stories about growing up in Austria, his World War II memories, and stories about his immigration to the United States.  I will always remember the float trips we took together on the Meramec River with other Hussmann friends.  
George knew I was interested in plants, as he was and he gave me a start from his banana plant that he had growing in your back yard.  He told me to plant it and be patient.  I planted it and for weeks nothing happened.  George just continued to tell me to “wait” in his own stoic way.   I now have over 60 banana plants in my basement ready to plant again this spring.  I give away plants every year and tell everyone who receives them the story of their origin.  
I enjoyed seeing the photos of George’s life and I am sure he is looking down on us right now and smiling while enjoying a fine cigar.

Papa, you were the best dad!  You worked very hard and made many sacrifices to provide for your family.  It seemed there wasn't anything you could not do.  You taught us so much. But, you also had time for fun, and I will always remember how your blue eyes would twinkle when something was funny, and how we would laugh together watching the Three Stooges.  Thank you, papa, for everything you did for us.

We miss you so much. It's going to be so hard not seeing sit at the table and offer us more wine, or talking about your translations, or your stamp collection. We're trying hard to remember the good times and the fun we had. We'll make sure to watch a Bugs Bunny cartoon. and a Mel Brooks movie in your memory, and play Spike Jones for you.
We'll take good care of Mom and Tante, and of all of each other.
We know you're up above somewhere, telling God and Saint Peter the latest Bosnian joke. Be at peace.

Ella,

Every night before I go to bed I turn out the light in my office on the way upstairs,  I think of George and the beautiful wooden light switch he made for me.  We definitely had to bring it along with us when we moved two years ago.

George will be sorely missed at our dinners and our meetings.  His jokes were the life of our meetings.  Karin and I have fond memories of your 50th anniversary party and George's 80th birthday.

From what I've read and seen and heard of your father, I know what a wonderful person he was.  Try not to think of your pain and suffering but, think of his passing as a renewal of his body and now the breath of Heaven.  There is no more pain or hurt, only his going ahead and preparing his mansion for us when it's our time.

Look for the signs he sends you to remember him. The wind, sunsets, and simply a flower  to show his love. I'm sure he will be there to wrap his angel wings around you when you are having an emotion moment.

We will miss him so much. Terry only knew him a short time, but knew from the beginning he was a terrific man and loving father. He could easily see why it was so easy to talk to.

   I had the extreme pleasure of knowing and working with George at Hussmann for over 20 years.  The one picture of George at his desk there in 1976 brought back many memories since my desk was only three feet in front of his. It was a cozy arrangement!   
   I always admired the many talents,abilities and skills George had.  He was a wealth of knowledge and will be greatly missed.
   May God comfort and bless you doing this time of sorrow.

Thinking of all of you. I know how special he was and how special he was to all of you. I only knew him for a short time but it didn't take long to learn that he was an amazing man.
