A Saint Louis native born to Nelda and Charles Smith on February 12,1958; Brian died suddenly on November 8, 2022. He earned a B.A. and a Master of Science, Clinical Psychology from St. Louis University and a MA in Scripture and Master of Divinity from Kenrick Glennon Seminary.
Brian served as a parish priest for 15 years, then as a Director of Mission Services at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas.
For the last ten years he provided leadership within the Catholic Health Association of the United States, and was Vice President, Sponsorship and Mission Services until his death.
Survived by his partner Dr. William Mains, stepmother Lillie, siblings Ret. Col. Kevin (Rebecca), Christopher (Venita), Sr. Bridget ASCJ, and Sr. Colleen ASCJ Smith, and Lillie Ann (Ryan) Veith. He cherished his nieces and nephews Sean, Megan, Tyler, Garrison, Taylor, Joseph, Meadow and great niece Everleigh.
A world traveler, Cardinal’s fan, and superb chef, Brian was a man of tremendous faith, wholeheartedly devoted to his family and friends, having a crazy sense of humor and endless compassion. His favorite motto: when in doubt, eat!

SERVICES: Visitation, Wednesday, November 16th from 4:00 pm 8:00 pm at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa Street at Watson.
Funeral Mass Thursday, November 17th, 10:00 am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 7316 Balson Ave.; University City. Interment at the Archer Cemetery, Princeton, Indiana at a later date.
