Carol Knight (Mayer)

With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, we bid farewell to Carol Knight (nee Mayer), born June 3, 1948, who left us on August 20, 2024. Carol, known for her radiant spirit and quick wit, was a cherished mother to Christine (Mark McDonnell) and Andrew, and a beloved grandmother to Ryan, Landen, Matthew, Sally, and Jonathan.

Carol's life was a rich tapestry of kindness, laughter, and unwavering commitment to her loved ones and her community. As a devoted member of The Middle Pages book club, she enjoyed delving into literary worlds and engaging in spirited discussions, often laced with her signature sarcastic humour. Her love for crafting and gardening was equally boundless; whether she was painting, knitting dishcloths, scrapbooking, woodworking, puttering in the yard, or creating something new, her hands were always busy and her imagination never idle.

Her volunteer work with the Girl Guides of Canada and 4Korners reflected her generous heart and boundless energy. Carol never missed a chance to lend a hand or share a laugh, and her crafting and service projects were as much about connecting with others as they were about creativity.

Never one to shy away from a good card game, Carol delighted in the camaraderie and the occasional cheeky banter that came with it. Her sarcastic and dark sense of humor was a well-loved feature of her personality, always finding a way to lighten even the heaviest of moments with a clever quip or a mischievous smile. She made us laugh until the very end.

Carol’s absence leaves a void in our hearts that will be felt deeply. Yet, her legacy of warmth, laughter, and compassion will continue to inspire us. She may have been a lover of books, butterflies, crafts, and cards, but more importantly, she was a lover of life and those around her, especially her five beautiful grandchildren. Carol will be dearly missed, but her memory will be cherished and celebrated in every smile and every story shared in her honour.
