2014, after a long illness. She was born in Detroit as the eldest of 5
children to Henry and Catherine Dempsey and a lifelong resident of St.
Clair Shores.
She was a devoted mother, daughter, grandmother and great-
grandmother. She especially enjoyed her time with cousins in the early
days on Cass Lake and love telling family stories to the younger ones.
She was a good listener and enjoyed gardening, family gatherings, and
big band music.
Mrs. Engquist is survived by her children Catherine (Denny) and
Michael; grandchildren, Alicia, Christina, Mark and great grandchild
Annabella. She was predeceased by her son, David. She leaves behind
brother Thomas, sister Patricia, loving sister-in-Iaws, nieces and
nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 9:30am. Monday, Sept. 29, at St.
Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 2110 Madison, St. Clair Shores, MI.
