Julien Rene Claus, age 97, passed away on July 25, 2024. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 22, 1926 to his late parents Jules and Irene Claus. Julien was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Irene. He is survived by his loving children: David (Judith), Mary (Bob) McGee, Dan (Rose), Joe; dear grandchildren: Michael (Rachel Kennedy), Andrew (Ling), Michelle, Chris (Jenni), Jenni (Brad) Metzger, Laura (Ralph) Claus-Tingley, the late Joey, Kristie (Robert) Sears; great-grandchildren: Easton, Olivia, Patrick, Theo, Nathan, Ben, Rowe; brother-in-law: Joe (Doreen) Demick; and sisters-in-law: Barb Demick and Virginia Demick.
Julien was a devoted family man and had a strong love for his wife, children, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren with one on the way. He was very passionate about hunting, woodworking, and making holiday projects. He was very proud of the Veterans memorial he made that played music and had a waving flag. To pass the time he enjoyed Sudoku, puzzles, and later in life reading books, he went as far to catalog them and put his initials in them. He made a free library in front of his house that many people had the opportunity to enjoy.
The family enjoyed many get togethers, special trips up north to the cabin, and vacations where they spent time together catching critters, sitting around campfires and enjoyed s’mores together. Julien was the family photographer and captured many special moments, family get togethers, and many weddings.
He had a memory like no other and if you got caught moving things around in the pole barn he was sure to call you out on it.
Julien was a longtime member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church where he became a member in 1950.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, a Veterans Organization of choosing, Blessed Solanus Casey, or the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
