James Neil Brown, age 88, of St. Clair Shores, Michigan passed away peacefully on January 20, 2021, in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Jim was born on February 3, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to the proud parents George and Irene Brown. At 19, Jim was drafted to the US Army and served for 8 years, 2 years active duty and the remainder as a reservist. After attending Eastern MI University he had a long and successful career in the advertising business. Aside from his children, grandchildren and large Irish family, his greatest pride was the many award winning TV and radio commercials he produced, directed and wrote. Jim enjoyed all things art. Jazz music, painting, gardening and writing were some of his favorite pastimes. In 1957 he wed the love of his life, the late Carol A. Brown and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage. Jim was the loving father of Kim (Ed) Ader, Kris Brown-Thomas, Kari (Pat) Fox, and Jim (Terri) Brown. He was the cherished grandfather of Eddie (fiancée Leigh Slater) Ader, Marissa (Andrew) Malburg, Vince Ader, Natalie Thomas, Patricia Ader, Liam Thomas, and Sean Brown. He is survived by his dear brother Lou (Nancy) Brown and sister-in-laws Barb Brown and Arlene Makowski. He was preceded in death by brothers George, Frederick, Joe, John, Bob, Tom, and Denny and sisters Leone, Mary, Gert, Ruth, Pat and Catherine. He was the proud uncle to over 50 nieces and nephews. Jim loved with his whole heart and had many life-long friendships.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday February 20, 2021, beginning at 10:00 am, at St. Lucy Catholic Church 23401 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48080. Followed by military honors.
