David Rene Cantin, age 67, of Harrison Township, Michigan passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023. Born September 25, 1955, to parents Pierre and Patricia Cantin. Loving husband of 39 years to Nancy Cantin, cherished father to Peter Cantin, Gabrielle (Bryan) Grand and the late Lauren Cantin. Dear brother to Suzette Ciminelli, Nanette Cantin, Michelle (Bruce) Osborne, Therese (Marty) Ferschneider, Paul (Mary) Cantin and Danielle Cantin. Beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
For over 40 years, David was more than a carpenter, he was a true craftsman. To this day, his work is admired throughout St. Clair Shores, The Grosse Pointes and Rochester Hills. His reach widens dramatically when you consider the many people he inspired and mentored throughout his life, instilling a passion for quality and attention to detail. After retirement he continued to create beautiful pieces in his workshop.
David helped build the family cottage in Canada and a lighthouse that continues to shine as a beacon of hope and a reminder of his determination and commitment to accomplishing the impossible. He treasured his time at the cottage with family and friends, especially quiet moments sitting on the deck looking out at the lake.
Having a great sense of humor and quick wit, David was a friend to all. He was the best storyteller, drawing crowds with his expressions and funny accents that no one could ever quite imitate. Throughout the years, David enjoyed playing golf, watching football, bowling, going camping with the family and he loved playing Blackjack.
David had a presence about him, a quiet strength. He spoke volumes of his love for and pride in others without ever saying a word. He will be missed by so many.
