William was a retired engineer with Upper Lakes Shipping Ltd. He enjoyed driving by the canal and watching the boats go through the locks after he retired. He loved his dogs, and enjoyed walking them through Jaycee Park. William found great joy and pride in the model train set that he built himself. As a life-long sailor, he followed the transformation of the QE2. His knowledge, attention to detail, and the extent of his research rivalled that of a published book on the subject. True to his Scottish heritage, he was an avid Manchester United fan - he never missed a match.
William was a one-of-a-kind soul, a loving son, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He always put his family first, making sure that everyone was taken care of. His main way of caregiving and showing his love was ensuring that everyone was well-fed. William was a compassionate, kind-hearted, gentle soul. He is very loved, and leaves behind a hole in the hearts of the ones that he loved.
William was born to the late Ivan and Dorothy Henderson. He will be sadly missed by his sister Elaine (Raymond) Hajnik, his two loving daughters Vesilka and Natasha, his son-in-law David, his grandchildren Dale and Davion, and his great-grandson Josiah. He will also be missed by his nieces Krista Hajnik and Kara (Jon) Cross, whom he loved like his own daughters, and his great-niece Ella and great-nephew J.D. William was excitedly awaiting the arrival of his new granddaughter so that he could have her experience the same love and generosity that he showed to those that meant the most to him. Last, but not least, he leaves behind his live-in ex-wife Sharron… “don’t ask”.
