

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rosie Brickell, 90, who peacefully passed away on February 25, 2025, at Tabor Manor. Rosie lived a full and vibrant life, grounded in love for her family and an unwavering faith that guided her every step. She dedicated herself to the well-being of others, taking great joy in selflessly caring for her loved ones and nurturing those around her.
Rosie was the beloved mother of Mark (Christine) and James (Heather), and the proud grandmother of Matthew Brickell, and Mark, Laryssa, and Krystina Waler. She was also a devoted great-grandmother to Maksym and Nicholas Hetmanczuk. Rosie’s love and legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Rosie had a special place in her heart for children. For years, she volunteered with youth groups, at Prince Philip Public School, and at church camps. Neighbourhood children quickly learned that Rosie’s home was always open to them, filled with delicious food and an abundance of love. Her warmth and generosity will be remembered by all who experienced her kindness.
She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Stan Brickell, with whom she shared a profound bond. Together, they overcame life’s challenges, and Rosie devoted herself to Stan’s care as he bravely fought Parkinson’s Disease. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Lil and Jenny, and her parents, Mike and Nellie Sahajduk.
A gifted cook, Rosie was best known for her sweet almond bread, tarts, and cookies—treats that brought joy to many. She also made the most delicious jams, a reflection of her loving spirit and thoughtfulness.
Rosie’s legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hulse and English Funeral Home (75 Church St. St. Catharines, ON). A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at the Hulse and English chapel. A burial will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery (431 Queenston St. St. Catharines, ON) In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson Canada or The Radiant Care Foundation. A heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff at Tabor Manor for their loving care in Rosie’s final years.
