It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. On Tuesday, November 15th at 1:05 p.m., surrounded by his loving family, Dirk went home to glory.
Dirk leaves behind Corrie, his loving wife of almost 59 years. He was the proud father of Darlene (David), Michelle (Robert), and Derrick (Melissa). He was a caring brother to Tina (the late Cor), Jane (the late Ralph) and Harry (Dorothy). Loving grandfather of Joel (Alyssa), Amy (Jake), Marissa (Brad), Ethan, Marlee, Rebecca, Nolan and Bennett. Loving great-grandfather to Charlotte, Grayson, Quinn, and Hazel.
Dirk moved from De Lier, The Netherlands to St. Catharines in 1951. He was an employee of General Motors for 38 years, where he worked on the boys line and work his way up to the tool and die line. Dirk was an avid handyman whether it was at the cottage, around the house or working on his vehicles. He really enjoyed his time at cottage and often would be found sitting on the deck looking at the lake and taking in God’s creation.
The family will receive friends at The First Reformed Church (1136 Vansickle Rd N., St. Catharines) on Saturday, November 19th from 2-4:30 p.m. Funeral service Monday, November 21th at First Reformed Church (1136 Vansickle Rd N., St Catharines) at 2:30 p.m. An interment will take place prior to the service at 1 p.m. leaving from Hulse and English Funeral Home (75 Church Street, St. Catharines).
If desired, donations to War Amps would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff from LHIN PSW Service and Hospice Niagara for their amazing care and compassion.
