Dietrick "Dick" George Sawatsky

Peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2018 surrounded by love and holding his wife’s hand at Hotel Dieu/Shaver Hospital. Dick, beloved husband of Myrtle. Cherished father of Bryan, Allan (Nadia), Lorne and James (David). Devoted Grandpa/Papa to Sarah, Ryan, Andrew, Lindsay, Evan, MacKenzie and Harrison. Great grandfather to Sydney, Meghan, Emma and Jackson. Dick, coming from a large family, ninth of eleven children, was a longtime employee of the Ontario Jockey Club where he reveled in the races, one of the biggest Blue Jays and Maple Leafs Fans and an avid golfer.

The family will receive friends at the Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines (905-684-6346) on Monday, April 9, from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Celebration of Dick’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Knox Presbyterian Church, 53 Church Street, St. Catharines at 11:00 am. Private family interment in Pleasantview Memorial Gardens.
